Doc.....I'll say thank you in advance for posting photos of your re-assembled Katana with the "budget" windscreen. I took my bike for state safety inspection this AM in <50 degree temps and would have appreciated a bit more wind protection. I have been so tempted by the low cost windscreens but have held off ordering one. I'm just a tight wad I guess but I don't want to waste even $20 on something that may not do what I want.

I had an 05 ZZR1200 and the previous owner had installed a new fairly tall windshield that had the equivalent of a spoiler at the top, also of the same windshield material, and it could be raised or lowered and even tilted. I don't remember the name though...just letting you know that they are out there and they are very groovy too.

Here’s mine. Kind of hard to measure but for reference the highest point of the center bubble is about 10” straight vertical from the trip meter reset knob. I can’t compare to stock as the stock screen was broken when I got the bike

I will say this about the budget screen: It's not great. Fit is ok-ish. Good enough I guess. I'm not 100% sure the bike is perfectly straight either...but the worst part is that the screen is clear right to the bottom, so you can see through it and see the wiring etc under the gauge cluster. So I'll take it off and paint the inside of the lower part black. But for ~$20 I'm happy with it. I haven't ridden the bike yet, at all, ever...so maybe later today I'll get a chance to take it for a rip. I just need to put the mirrors on. I finished everything else last night.

Thanks for posting that photo and the info. I guess your Katana is in the "pre" category. Mine is a '06 so I guess that's commonly referred to as a "post" model. Looks and possibly effectiveness are no doubt somewhat different for the two series of bikes, but I'll be interested to hear your impression of the windscreen when you've had a chance to ride it.
