      • I noticed today that after a 10min ride, the clutch cable has a lot more slack. When I start the bike there's not even 1/4inch slack but it can go to as much as 1 1/2inch. My guess is I need a new cable, but are there other things to consider?

        • I adjusted the clutch cable so I don't have anymore drag and excessive free play. I wish the previous owner would've done this simple thing. All she did was buy a new cable and put it in. But I'm not going to complain about what she didn't do. I'm thanking her. Gives me more projects to work on....what's next...

You probably already check this, but it's not the sidestand switch, right? Being jarred around if it's worn internally can close the circuit on you without actually having the sidestand down.

Were you on rough roads or...?

Maybe if you describe the ride you had, someone can suggest something based on that.

                          • I rode for 120+ miles over many types of roads...
The rpms didn't matter and me jiggling the sidestand didn't change anything til after it was running right...
I pulled the tank and seat on the side of the road and cleaned the battery connections, rest the spark plug boots, checked the ground wires, cleaned the ground for my ignition relay, cleaned the contacts on the coils, and looked over the wiring harness for burned spots.
Everything seemed fine so I said let's give it another try and like that not one more issue...
Been a couple days now so I'm guessing it's gone...
                            Cross my fingers!

                              • Today, I just rode to work and will have to ride back, most-likely in the rain.

This past weekend, I did the coil relay mod and my butt dyno says that throttle response and start up/warm up times are MUCH improved. Funny that it would work out that well even on an '06.
