Thinking about it, what the heck is the purpose the park light anyway?

Look at where the car is parked. Now imagine it's late at night, and the town is covered with pea-soup fog (common in areas of Germany). You pull in next to that car to run into a friend's house for 10 minutes (drop off some DVD's, etc). This is exactly the situation that the parking light was intended for -- to keep someone from hitting your bike in a low-visibility situation while it's parked.
