  • Q: strongest fork springs available ?

Who makes the strongest fork springs ? The strongest I've seen are the "Sonic Springs" @ 1.10kg/mm

    I'm a heavy rider and require a 1.21 kg/mm without my armour/gear/passenger.
Is the $0.99 modification a good idea combined with the 1.10kg/mm Sonic Springs to get more stiffness ?

    THANKS

How did you figure you need that heavy of a spring?

the 99cent fix will give you more preload, but it doesn't change the spring rate.

I dont see why you would need to do the 99 cent mod.....???
if sonic springs is a reputable spring replacement company then they will also send a new spacer for you to cut down for your preload.

I figured my spring rate with Race Techs calculator. Its on their website.

Next, I don't know anything about rebuilding forks. This is completely new to me. I was under the impression that the spacers (.99cent mod) actually increased the spring rate. I'm not positive on what preload is at this moment. I'll be sure to read about Preload tomarrow when I wake up. Or you can go ahead and break it down if you like?

I'll be sure to read about emulators too. (hint, hint)???

I just wanted to see if anyone had any more information than I was able to find by searching Google.

The .99 mod adds more preload, and negates some of the downside to having weak progressive springs.

Tmod already responded to his first post on this matter, I guess he didn't like my answer.

              My post here.

Adding more preload will not change the rate of the spring.

I liked you answer but you said you only sell Race Tech. The Race Tech is weaker than the Sonic Spring at 1.1kg/mm.
The purpose of this thread is to investigate other brands of springs that maybe out there besides Sonics Springs. Your thread topic was " spring pre-load" if I remember correctly.

                  Nah that wasn't my thread.

Anyway there are progressive springs out there as well as Ohlins, Sonic, RT, Eibach, Progressive, Hagon and a few others that are not coming to mind. Get the Sonics and put 30mm preload on them and go from there.
