  • Hello Moto

    Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd say hello I literaly just signed up tonight saw alot of good info on here and wanted full access to all the info you guys have. I just bought a 96 katana 600 picked it up for $900 not a bad deal I'll get some pics up as soon as I pick it up from my friends house. One minor thing to look at and trust me I already searched all through the carb forums trying to find something on this but here it goes. The bike has an air leak at the carb tubes going into the motor used ether to find it but these are new fittings my question is, do these boots/ tubes/ gaskets whatever they are have a certain order they go in the kid I bought it off of said he just put them on not really paying attention so if certain ones go in certain places I think he may of screwed that up not sure though.

    Welcome to KR.

The boots do have an order, but if they were in the wrong position you wouldn't be able to install the carbs.

If your sure that's where the leak is, and it's not uncommon, you may need to replace the oring seals up against the head. Or check each boot for wear and cracking as they are rubber and need to be replaced from time to time.

Also check that the boots are clamped tightly to the carbs.

Ya I'll have to check that think im picking it up on wednesday and double check but when you use ether on the right side right at the carb where it goes into the head is where it picks up at maybe the oring isnt there ill have to tear it apart to check it, but this is my first bike gonna take me alot of questions lol I rebuilt a harley with my dad but this is a whole different ball game.
