  • Picking up my '98 600 Kat in two days

Hi guys i've got a 200 mile trip in two days to go pick up my 1998 600 kat in yellow. I bought it in 1999 rode it briefly for a summer and the following spring then put it in storage at the parents house. Its done all of 1700km in its 14yr life. I AM SOOO EXCITED. lol

Hi cintidude, im going to change all the fluids, check all the hoses etc, new tyres (which kills me as the Michellins on it still look like new), basically strip the bike check replace rebuild and then ride.

Would also take a look in the tank and inspect for rust.

Welcome to KR! Everything cintidude04 said. Was it stored inside, outside, outside in a shed? If it was outside or in a shed check all electrical connections as well for corrosion. Good luck and have fun.

Its been stored in a brick built garage so perfectly dry. (Scottynoface) I was planning on riding it sometime in November, the wife wants the car back I know I better get working/spending.

My 92 600 was stored in a garage for 15+ years and had a little over 3K miles on it. I was able to get it up and running in about a week and a half. New tires, chain, rebuilt the carbs, replaced petcock. That was in 2009. It's been running great ever since.
