Hey, bought my kat a year ago from another military member who didn't treat it very well when i got it it was raged and dropped multiple times. im going to need a lot of help getting it fixed up wanna do all the work my self but been more of a gun guy then a motor man. i rode it all last year but its time to break it down and do this right and take my time........So just for staters...i ordered my repair manual but decided not to wait and pulled started tearing it apart today the carbs are now in pieces being dipped over night no rust just dirty and had oil residue in them from the previous owner running it way to full of oil.
So after i cleaned the carbs i started inspecting the valves and they are so gunked now like i said i dont know much but i read here it may be from the over full oil that they became this way my main question is if i should pull the head and if i do does that mean i have to rebuild the top end or can i just clean everything i know it was rebuilt a year before i bought it but the valves are so dirty idk i guess just a little bit of support in which direction i should go is all im after..
Thanks in advance im so glad this site is here i love this bike its not a busa but it rides the mountains like a champ and cruises the highways in comfort best purchases ever!
