Taking the course is at the top of my list of things to do, but unfortunately my bosses don't see it necassary to give me the time off to take it.

I started on a on/off road dirt bike (honda xr500). I got the hang of the clutch and leaning on the turns from that. I beat the hell out of it. I had a couple spills but nothing serious. It was a good learner bike for me. I got it for 500 bucks and sold it for 500. I think the cheaper the learner the better because you will probably drop it a couple times, as you already know. I would hate to spend 7000 on a new sport bike and drop it first time out.
