  • 2001 Streetfighter Gauge Cluster Ideas.

I am new to the forum, I recently purchased a friends 01 Fairingless dinged and dented Kat, so I've decided to fighter it. I need inexpensive ideas for the gauge cluster, possibly using the gauges from the existing cluster.

    Welcome to KR.
There is a stickie here in the fighter section with a good layout. Also take some time an check out some build threads and see if you like how others are doing their gauges.

I made my own gauge brackets for my pre using parts from the stock bracket welded on to bar stock. I'm gonna have to upload the pic of it for you can get some ideas, I'm just on my phone now.

What would be the main problems with hooking up a cluster off a newer sportbike? Or even one like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=260755682321 ?

Electronic tachs, like electronic ignition systems don't follow an industry standard. So you can't be sure the tach will read right or even fry the ignition. pre 98 speedos are cable that will likely work with any manual speedo, it think those are pretty standard, but 98+ and gauges with electronic speedos again are not standard..

Best bet for success is stick with Suzuki. there is a long line of guys wanting to see how a newer GSX-R cluster will work on a Kat, but we are all too wimpy to try it..

Did a 94-95 GSXR cluster on my Kat.. no probs at all.. I abandoned the temp gauge of course but making all the lights and tach work was pretty easy.

Cool Jim, why not fit the gas gauge in there?

Ended up purchasing a Trail Tech Vapor digital gauge. Anyone have experience in wiring this up on a post 98 Kat?

I believe as far as wiring goes it is just installing the magnetic senor on the front wheel and fork. An hooking it into a power and ground line. But Ive never used one, so what do the directions say?
