  • Whoever did the work on his bike clearly did more modification than just a spacer. Possibly not even a busa SA, just the similar styled gsxr arm that only fits the 5.5 wheel therefore the SA is not as wide.

    More pics and notes momentarily.

Well, went ahead and chopped the lower subframe after class today. Refit the SA and attempted to install the busa shock. This is how that turned out.

    • That was the same thing I ran into when I did the 06 gsxr swing arm, I resolved it by making new shock mounts on the frame, I may be wrong but it looks like you could make the bottom mount work still and just redo the top mount to suit the ride height. The linkage I used was different so I had to redo both the top and bottom of mine.

      • Have been talking with Tmod for the past week about ideas for an adjustable shock mount. Looks like I may need to start putting more thought into that idea lol.

        • I see no way that the bike Kreylyn linked, was a simple spacer mod. The lower subframe has to be changed, no way around that.

Looks good Cintidude04. Are you going to change one of the suspension mounts to work with the longer shock? Or how are you planning to address that?

Nevermind, I see you just answered that

            That would be neat!

            • Hooked up the bottom so could see how much higher I would need to make the new mount. It'll be high, but doable.

                • So far everything is looking good! I know on the pre there is a 2" difference due to the length of the shock. I would start with lowering links then get your final height with relocating the upper mount. I will be watching this build up til its done! If you need any information let me know.

                  • Out of curiosity, wouldn't an R6 shock fix the need to change the shock mount?

                    • You've been busy since I last checked in! I'm diggin the swingarm, that's the one I wanted to put on my bike, I just really like the boxness and bracing on it.

With the R6, the reservior hits the brace of the SA. Remember the R6 is shorter than stock and the busa is 2" taller than stock.

Honestly I could just throw the B12 shock back on and it would be fine. But seriously... an adjustable shock mount and a shock with better adjustability sounds so much better on a streetfighter.

Where did you find a black one? When I was looking at Earls oil coolers all I found was bare aluminum.
