Your Oil pan would need a different strainer or get a 98+ oil pan
I'd just suggest getting a 98+ oil pan and resell the pan you have now, since you need a new strainer to fit, and then you need to think about the exhaust routing. (you have a single exhaust no?)

Hold on. You bought a '96 Kat 600. According to the engine ID, it's got a 2005 600 engine. That's a pretty common thing, to install a 98+ engine in a pre-98 bike. No big deal as long as you know. With the single-sided exhaust, you probably have a 98+ oil pan, strainer and header on there already.
With all that, you need a 98+ oil pan.
You can replace the exhaust with any exhaust designed to fit a 98+ Katana although I'm not sure why you'd want to replace what you've got. (Damaged?)
