Search, there is no aftermarket integrated taillights for the pres, however people around here can be pretty crafty and creative.1992- project katfighter

I have embarked on the road of modding. Even if you BOLT ON new parts to a bike, there will be someone somewhere that has the same combination. With the Kat, you have a unique platform. Sure, some parts might be from other bikes, but no one will have the same combination. It will be truly yours and unique.

I think the tailight you have is the same as the one on the 92 Kat 1100...if not, it is very similar.
...Here is how i did it....
1. remove the assy and create a template of the curvature of the taillamp lens. You need to do that so you can create the internal partitions.
2. using sheetmetal, you will need to create the internal partitions. Cut two pieces approx two inches taller than the taillamp housing and about three inches longer.
3.Use the template and transfer the contour of the lense to one end of the two pieces of sheetmetal.
4. here is the tough part, you will need to hacksaw two slots on the back of the taillamp assy opposite the lense. If you see the pics, i cut mine at an angle so i had enough room for the turn signal bulbs. Essentially you are creating a diamond shape for your tail light and break light with two small triangles at the lower corners for the turn signals. Make absolutely certain that the cuts are exactly the same from one side to the other.
5 insert the sheetmetal and trim until you can get the contoured edges as close to the lense as possible. Then mark and trim the sheetmetal that extends outside the lamp assembly. do the same for both sides.
6 I drilled a hole on the underside of the partitions large enough to allow the bulbs to fit and used the inside of the original turn signal sockets.Last edited by Nut-Nut; 06-15-2011, 10:48 PM.

I did that mod like 10 years ago...lol Sorry, no pics from when i did it. If i take the tail off for some reason, i will take pics of what the lamp looks like from behind...

I remember seeing this awhile back... it was a really good mod he did...
I had already done the one on my bike after I did one for my friends 900RR. i integrated his turn signals into the two little red lenses that were not used above or below, can't remember which, the tail lamp... liked it so much, i went and did my own...lol
I think the LEDs are really nice, but my Kat does not like different bulbs.. Last time i did that she started to overcharge...drove me up a wall until I traced the wiring for the alternator on the Shop Manual...
