  • Michelin Pilot Power 2CT - sizing question

    Hi,
    I have a Kat 600 year 2000.
Want to put Pilot Power 2CT on my bike this year.
    Kat 600's take a 150 rear tire.
Smallest pilot power 2 CT is 160 (I think).
Is the rim too small (in other words will the rim "pinch" the tire) to accept a 160 tire?
Spoke (text chat) with a guy at SportbikeTrackGear.com and he didn't think it was a good idea to put a 160 on a rim/motorcycle originally fitted for 150 (handling concern as well as a "Pinch" concern as mentioned above).
Any thoughts about the suitability of the tire?
Is there actually a 150 available?
    Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to KR.

The search button is your friend. It'll help you answer almost all the questions you have about your bike, or at least get you on the right path.

But yes a 160 will fit on a post model. Your rear rim is 4.5 inches. Check with manufacturers to see what specific sizes will fit. Also whoever you spoke to was incorrect. A 150 tire comes stock on your bike. If that were dangerous, the manufacturers wouldn't have done it.

btw, I made a typo in my original post.
"...he didn't think it was a good idea to put a 150 on a rim/motorcycle originally fitted for 150..."
        should have read:
"...he didn't think it was a good idea to put a 160 on a rim/motorcycle originally fitted for 150

Depending on the riding you intend to do, you may be better off with the Pilot Road 2's or the new 3's - the grip is insane - I run the 150 stock rear tire on my 06 - great tires.

I'm running the PP2Ct 160/60 on my 01 750. no issues with fit, mounting difficulty, or pinching, or unsafe anything... and it sticks like glue.

put that tire on there, no problem.
