I found out a couple of things today. First off, If you live in Wisconsin, this is for you.
There is a new law that if you have an aftermarket pipe on your bike, you can and probably will get a ticket. It's a stupid law and don't know why they enacted it but that's the way it is. If the cop see the bike running, s/he can write you a ticket. I just found that out. I'm not too worried about it though. They have mostly been giving out tickets to sport bikes. The police probably don't want to **** off the Harley crowd. Even though most of the damn noise comes from the damn Screaming Eagle pipes put on every Harley out there. I have only seen about 20 sportbikes on the road since I moved here in 2001.
Another thing. I spoke with a man at the local dealership who races GSXR's and is sponsered by several manufacturers. He had a few things to say about the exhuast I had.
D&D---One of the loudest exhausts on the market. Likely to get a ticket.
Two Brothers---Also extremely loud. Needs very frequent repacking.
M4---Almost directly between D&D and stock pipe as of loudness. Meant for racing. Very hard to tune when putting on a Katana.
Yoshimura---Best pipe for WI riders. Quiet (idle is 80db as compared to stock 70db and D&D at about 105db). Only need a rejet kit which he sold me only the jets and needle I needed. No extra so I only had to do it once. He is a very nice man and contacted a few of the companies to find out what all I needed to do in order to make my bike run A1 without jetting the carbs and dynoing my bike like 20 times.
