I remember watching Halley's Hints a while ago, and remembered his suggestion to use a bit of shaving cream on the mirrors in the bathroom to keep them from fogging up. Never tried it on my visor (I use a Braun razor), but it may be worth a try.2006 Katana 750 - Daily therapy

No chance I am going to put vinegar on my plastic visor, especially when there are commercially available alternatives that are known to work reasonably well for not too much money.

vinegar is acidic. I wouldn't use it on plastic without rinsing thoroughly afterwards.

Vinegar is a great glass cleaner and helps remove any mineral build-up (such as calcium), but doesn't inherently make glass fog-free in any sense. Using newspaper instead of a rag/towel will clean glass even better, as it's long-fibers do a better job of scrapping the glass surface thoroughly without being hard enough to scratch the surface of the glass itself.
The commercial products that make glass fog-free (rain-x, etc.) actually layer another chemical structure onto the surface that is of a such a shape/size that water molecules can't stick to it. The special anti-fog pin-inserts and complete visors from FogCity have the actual plastic material formed with intentional surface imperfections that do the same job (too small/jagged/wrong-pattern for water molecules to grab onto the surface -- and too small for you to notice that it's not perfectly smooth).
As for the suggestion of using vinegar on your visor or windshield and not rinsing it/drying it off immediately afterwards -- I'd skip on it in general, and in particular if your visor material isn't specifically lexan (which only a few manufacturers use for their visors).
Cheers,

I've given up on the chemicals... and just work on controlling my breathing. The Rain-X fog stuff works okay, but you have to keep applying it constantly or the visor gets a weird glaze to it and fogs up faster.-Steve

Steve, see if FogCity either makes a visor for your brand, or consider a pin-insert (they also make a non-pin version that uses adhesive, but the adhesive is really no good in the rain based on my experiences).

pinlock has a new version coming out that uses no pins. called 100% max vision
now as I remember chemistry.....plastic resists acids?
either way, i think my nolan visors are lexan and they still say mild detergent to clean, never would put anything else on them.

When I was doing a lot of SCUBA diving we just washed our masks with a drop of liquid dishwashing soap, rinsed and went. (Not much point in drying a dive mask...) I haven't tried it on a visor yet but it might be worth a shot. Can't beat the price!
