  • Vacuum reading ?????????

Hi, does any one know where i can find the correct information about what my vacuum reading should be on a gsxr600 (or on any Katana bike to compare), also what compression reading I should be getting?

What vacuum are you referring to?

Compression should be (OEM 88-06 Katana 600 & 750 engines, no WiseCo overbore kit installed):
over 160 to 213 psi: Great shape to brand new
143 - 160 psi: worn shape, but still useable.
115 - 142 psi: you're going to have a hard time starting, but it'll run if you can get it fired up. If all cylinders test below 142 psi, per the factory service manual, overhaul (new rings, rebore, engine work) or replace.
Under 114 psi for any one cylinder: time for new rings, rebore, engine work - you've reached the service limit in the factory service manual.
Or if you have a difference of more than 26 psi between any two cylinders, overhaul.

Note that the throttle must be WOT when testing compression ratios to get a valid reading.
