i know the ignition advancer seems like it is a solid mod. i though i read somewhere on here that the Canadian Models already come advanced from the factory.

is this true?

there really is no definitive answer, unless CP has come to a conclusion, but all signs point to yes, Canadian models come advanced.

While the Suzuki manuals claim the Canadians get the same advance as the Europeans, they have the US-style OEM advancer and the Canadians I've sold 'em to claim the 5 degree-added advancer I sell does make a noticeable positive difference.
