  • Gear shift removal?

Did some searches and did not find it so I have to ask.... do you simply remove the small bolt and basically wiggled the foot shifter till it slides off or is there more to it.... I have to paint those nasty chrome heel guards...

the newer Kats dont have a circlip holding the actual shift lever to the pivit? My '90 750 has one to insure the lever stays in place and doesnt slide off in case the linkage fails. Or dont the newer ones even have the linkage setup?

Linkage and cir-clip is there on the 98+, as well as a nylon or teflon washer.
