That's awesome, but 152dB is normally only reachable with air horns, and that means there's a period of time between when you push the horn button and when the horn makes it's first tone (time varies by brand & model, but 1/2 second to 1 second delay is typical while the electric motor spins the pressure level up high enough). On a bike, that time-lost is critical to me...

The way around it (the time-to-respond-delay) is to store compressed air, but then you're talking about a lot of extra plumbing, a pressure storage container, etc., which generally isn't very feasible on a bike...

        Cheers,

I have the Fiamm low tone which is a vast improvement over the pathetic stocker. I'm thinking of adding the high tone and a relay to increase awareness - especially when rolling on the slab.

I have both the Freeway blaster and the Steebel Nautilus on mine and it's friggin LOUD!!! It's almost too loud cause it scares most people.

I had to use a relay for the Steebel but the Blaster runs right off the stock circuit just fine.

i had Bosch dual air horns on my '89 Kat back in the day. sorry, no pix, that was before the internet. wired properly with a relay there was NO delay in blasting those suckers, and they were tuckd under the fairings. Harbor Freight sells a similar airhorn very cheap.

it was always interesting to see people looking for the truck when they heard the Kat.

this weekend i'll be mounting a Stebel Nautilus Compact on my KLR.

i'm still a long way from worrying about the horn in the "new" '93 Kat.
