Impact wrench??? It's not on there THAT tight....

The bolt is typically loctite'd from the factory, so getting it off means you need to provide a very fast snapping force to get it started turning (applying pressure gradually won't break the bond). I've always used a spare clicker-style torque wrench set to it's highest setting and a hard snap motion to get it started...

Well mine was...I almost knocked it off the center stand. Either way, it worked out and I recommend an impact wrench to save the trouble.

Am i wrong when saying that this is only for US bikes.

Read somewhere that it only made any difference on US bikes because of some change in the setup for the US

Only for North American bikes... European bikes already have the advance that this upgrade provides according to the factory service manual.

I'm ignorant; what exactly is an "ignition advancer" and why does it help so much?

They've been going in and out of back-order status nationally, so I can't give you a firm date. I hope to have more in about a month...
