    FYI ON THE Z6 170/60

I decided to call Pirelli and talked to a tech who told me the following:

****The z6 was tested on a 5" rim and is ONLY recommended to go on a rim between 5" and 5.5", the 4.5" rim IS TOO NARROW ****

Sheer folly. Meanwhile, totally ignore this advice, as you have a pre-98, which means you do not have a 4.5" wide rear rim, so even if it wasn't foolish advice in general, it would be potentially lethal advice in your case anyway.

Actually I have an 05' so it is 4.5" wide... and according to several places the metzeler and there 1 other brand that is designed and safe to mount on a 4.5" rim... I've done my research.

Hmmmm. Two choices, here. Go with CP's conservative advise, and never have to worry about a tire-size created crash, or have a little fun and make your bike more like you want it, by going with the advise from Metzler (which you DO have in writing, right? Email, at least...), and if your bike goes smash, you (or your heirs) can then sue Metzler for all they are worth...
