From my UK sources, I know it's a better bike, at least mechanically, and a worse bike in terms of lighting and weather protection for all-weather transit.

I got my brand new 06 750 for $6000 out the door that included tax, tag, and dealer prep. I had to be driven to Chicago to get it. I called around until I found a place that had the color I wanted. When I called I was quoted $6500. I walked in with a $6000 money order and at first the guy said he couldn't do it so I started walking out like it didn't matter, and right when I got to the door he called me back and said ok. I even got 1/2 price on an HJC helmet.
