  • Tool kit contents - What comes OEM?

OK, I've been asked a number of times what comes in each stock toolkit for the various years. I figure I'll make a new thread with the answer and others searching for it can find it for themselves...

    EDIT/Update:

All of the toolkits' contents have been entered into the Wiki for every toolkit Suzuki still offers for the Kats
    See: http://katriders.com/wiki/index.php5...Toolkit%2C_OEM

In my 05 600 it came with the shock spanner.

Why did they include it with some bikes and not others?

    Any particular reason?

No clue... best guess is that either they omitted it as a cost-savings measure, or that some shop-guys who assemble the bike forgot to stick them in (or grabbed them intentionally). The shock spanner shows up as a different part number and has to be ordered separately for all the various Kat kits I've seen/looked-up.

Yea, I noticed that too on the microfiche when I looked it up, there is also a box wrench that is listed separately as well...hmmm, weird....

Odd , the TWO stock toolkits I bought had the spanners in 'em .... Maybe they don't like the 600's .

The box-wrench is actual an error in the fiche files. That part number listed gets you another allen key.

If you bought them used, then yes, the spanner was probably in there. If you bought them new, it wouldn't have been (unless you got it through me, since I bundle them in for anyone not running an Ohlin shock).

Hey, it takes time to move and get the DSL set-up and so forth... I'm still not finished unpacking. And no $%&$% thanks to the area Kat Riders who didn't show up to help -- I won't mention names, but you know who you are (and a big thanks out to Kat6 for putting in four hours of moving assistance).

waaaay back in '89 my Kat 600 came with the shock spanner.

also works as an improvised wrench for the headset locknut on some bikes.

The bikes come with the shock spanners (well, most years -- looks like some 05 and all 06 got screwed out of them). But if you look at the fiche files, they are separate items, not "inside" the OEM toolkit when you order the toolkit by part number.

Just went through some more toolkits and found there is a different kit for the 96-97 model year that has a different plug-socket tool that fits both the older & newer style spark plugs.

                        Cheers,

Just so you know, The spanner that you carry doesnt work on an 06 750 rear shock.

I didn't realize it before digging through the fiche files and examining the stuff on my shelf further today that there was a unique spanner for the 99+ 750's. If I sold you the wrong spanner, let me know and I'll replace it

I just ordered a few of the 99+ 750 spanners today... Now that I know there is a difference.
