I've owned over 70 Katanas - you think I know anything about them?
Is there such a thing as TOO MANY BIKES?
Can you go TOO FAST on a bike?

                    Maybe...

                    Huh?

                    Well, it goes like this:
Suzuki delivered two different 98+ gas tanks in the USA; one that was specific to the California models (has extra space underneath for the PAIR valve), and a standard version for the other 49 states. The 49-state version has a larger capacity, but doesn't have space for the PAIR valve system.

If you order a replacement tank from Suzuki, they only offer one replacement -- the California version (so they only have to carry one item in their replacement inventory).

Meanwhile, as long as you don't have a California model, any 98+ tank will fit. If you have a Cali-specific model, you can end up with a tank that won't work without removing the extra pollution control equipment if you get a standard 49-state model.

                    Cheers
