The CBR1100XX didn't arrive on scene until '97 (after the Kat 1100 left the scene, at least in the USA). The big update happens in '99, with fuel injection and ram-air.

What sucks is that Honda was still building the blackbirds as of the '05 model year (and maybe '06), but they weren't being offered new in the US since something like '01.

    Cheers,

havent seen all that many blackbirds around, but rode for a while with a guy with one. it was sharp. for a while, I had it in my head that I would own one,,,,,but stuck with my kat. glad I did.
I don't have a short temper. I just have a quick reaction to bullshit.

Ok , you got me on that one . I thought the Blackbird was around the same time . Well then , the ZZR11/ZX11 was the fastest in '90 , and for the next 5 years until the Blackbird came about says The Ultimate History of Fast Motorcycles book in front of me .... 145bhp , top speed of 175 . But no mention ANYWHERE of the "modern" Katana 1100 . It has the EARLIEST Kat in there , though .
I am a fluffy lil cuddly lovable bunny , dammit !
