Hey everyone,
I bought my first Kat a couple of months ago, an '88 600. It was in rough condition at the time (still is in some places) but it was a good enough bike to get the season started and has yet to falter an inch in it's performance. Mostly, it has some cosmetic damage from a previous owner but otherwise the bike has been an absolute blast to ride and learn on.
Just recently I've been presented with an opportunity to buy yet another Katana, except this time a 2001 750 in, at least what I consider to be, fantastic condition. It has 12,500 KM (sorry not great at conversion, don't what that is miles), has been dealer maintained with records, as clean a title as any could be had (no accidents or claims) and not a single spot of rust, scratch or dent cosmetically.
Here's a link to a picture that the dealer has on it's web page:
I've only spoken with the dealer over the phone and seen the bike from behind a fence but I'll be going to see it in person for a more in depth look tomorrow or the next night. So for this, I have a few questions.
1) The asking price as it stands now is $4,999.00, (this is CDN of course) which to me is a decent price for a 2001 with low mileage but being inexperienced here I'd like some thoughts on the matter and whether this is a fair price.
2) Are there some obvious points I should be looking at for this particular year and model, any trouble spots perhaps, known bad points, something that needs to be paid close attention to?
3) I only started riding last summer on an older Honda 500, then this summer was the Kat 600, which I feel very very comfortable on. I'm certainly not foolish enough to think I've reached the 600's full capability's as it continues to challenge me but am I biting off way more bike with a 750 then I can naturally handle? I do consider myself a mature rider of about average riding knowledge and ability but of course, after only barely 2 season in me, what do I know?
That about covers any questions on my kat to kat switch I hope will take place. I do however want to say thank you to everyone on the forums, this has been a wonderful resource in the little time I've owned my Kat600 and I visit and read the forums daily.
Thanks again for any help in advance.
