Motorcyclist hit by lightning in rush hour traffic in Denver

This happened yesterday evening - and to think that I was pissed because of the traffic. Sure looks like a Kat. Hope it's no one here.....

Check out the picture of the hole in the asphalt that the strike made. I can't imagine what it felt like to the guy on the bike.

I know this is morbid but I would like to see the helmet...wonder if there is any damage to it...never even heard of anyone getting hit by lightning on a bike...wow...and it looks like a Kat...hopefully no one here...RIP...

how can you avoid that?

The simplest way is "Don't ride in lightening storms."

If you're going to anyway, you could wear insulated boots and gloves (make the path directly through the bike more attractive than the path thru you to the bike).

There was another rider killed last year the same way, but he was on a cruiser of some type out in the Rockies...

And that does look like a Kat, with some darkened lenses over the headlights... who has a yellow kat with lens covers?
