  • Another tire question/opinion

    Morning everyone,
I know questions about tires and oil seem to start flame wars on these boards but I've already purchased the tires, Pirelli Sport Demons in the 16" flavor, and want to know how the owners like them for long commuting? My normal commute is 50+ miles and it's mostly highway. The 17" conversion I'm leaving till next winter since I'm playing with a Yammy twin converting to a Brat Style cycle.

I think your the one thats going to have to report back to us since you already have them. I was looking at this Duro HF918.

When I first bought my Kat 600 it had a Duro exactly like this one but its a 110/70-17. It had to be atleast a year old when I bought the bike. I then put 5,000 miles on it before I bought new rims (post-98) and it still has a few thousand miles left on it. I still have it in storage after 6 years and its not dry rotted yet. I remember my first thought after taking it off and that was I liked the Duro better than my Dunlop Qualifier 120/70-17. The Duro leaned a lot quicker. I think thats because of the width variation. The Dunlop only lasted 3,000 before I bought a Shinko.

I ran the 17" version up front on my 600, got decent mileage out of it, 15k miles I believe. Way better than the stock tires. Not sure how it would work in 16" form on the 1100, mine is overhauled to 17s with PR4s.

I have the Sport Demons and absolutely love them, great grip in the corners even when raining. The mileage I got out of mine (not sure of exact mileage) seems to be on par with other tires.

Bottom line is I would recommend these tire
