Those main bearings are still good to go even after 45k? Did you check the rod bearings?

Everything was within spec, only stripped the engine cause of oil leaks, it was running fine but as the saying goes one thing leads to another..................Last edited by Locomotion; 05-14-2014, 01:31 PM.If it aint broke polish it

Now to get the top end back on
With new rings spaced correctly and ring compressors attached
The centre 2 pistons in first then the outer 2
Inserting the rest of the studs, long thread down and a bit of thread lock
Using the double nut trick to tighten down the studs
Head gasket in place and these rather expensive O rings x 6
Before the head goes on the oil drain pipes with new O rings inserted with a dab of LM grease, one of the reasons the head came off due to leaks
Head on cams next
If it aint broke polish it

Not all plain sailing though, got to last bit when tightening the cam cover bolts 4 threads gave up, the cam caps had been helicoiled previously which Im not a big fan of, had them rethreaded using timeserts which are far superior and not made of chocolate, once that was sorted the camchain tensioner decided to snap clean off whilst I was torquing it up. Will get some more pics up very soonLast edited by Locomotion; 05-23-2014, 05:25 PM.If it aint broke polish it

The carb rubbers had definitely seen better days
The centre 2 were okish though so saved as spares, I bought a used set in good condition and cleaned them up and fitted new o rings.
Time to reunite the engine with the frame
I knocked up a small wooden frame to hold the engine and whilst my mate held the engine at an angle I lifted the frame onto it.
At last together again, all mounting bolts copper greased and torqued up
Swingarm and shock/linkage back in
Back on its wheels although the centre stand is up both wheels are on the ground may remove it yet
Chain is a 530 conversion, looks really long in the picture
Will be relocating the support for the torque arm on the rear caliper
Bit of sunshine
Will have to do something with the shock braided hose
No lock stops on the yokes they will be up against foam pads on the frame, the top Bandit yoke has also been milled to enable the Slabside Ignition which is a 4 wire same as stock to meet the steering lock
It turns out those stainless exhaust header studs are too short
GSXR1100 front wheel, Bandit 12 43mm forks with progressive springs brake discs and calipers
Rear end set up GSXR1100 Wheel underslung caliper stock master cylinder

Oil cooler pipes came up well with some Hammerite gloss although a pig to apply as its very thin
I bought a low use Motad 4 into 2, stainless headers and chrome silencers
Very nice fit
prefer the twin silencers
I fitted SV650 bars as they have approx the same width as the stock set up along with the rubber mounted Bandit 1200 yokes should be smooth hopefully
The powerscreen worked ok but thought I'd pull it apart for some cleaning and greasing
Plastic balls on a steel cable run through a plastic guide, the left side has the motor drive the right side is a slave driven by the long spindle. cleaned up not too bad then greased up.
The plastic guide can be removed but the pins will break so worked around this
The screen guides just needed a good clean and grease
Fairing/screen bracket powder coated
powerscreen bits fitted back on, excuse the crap pictures but I was up all night.
Next up is to sort this lot
