Yes, but... that's the whole idea I've waited for over 20 years to get a bike like this due to raising two families, buying houses, getting divorced and re-married plus life in general etc that now I've got my Kat I want her to be as good as possible, next winter she'll be getting a respray to finish her off, much cheaper this way and much more satisfying than buying a new, modern crotch rocket that I'd probably hate.

Where did you get the new, taller screen?

Edit: Nevermind, saw the Ermax logo now!

Yes, the screen was made in France but I got a company that advertise on "www.fin.no" to import it for me, cost just over Nok 1000,- with frakt.

          Enjoying this thread.

I'm enjoying the read and I'm taking notes, or I will be when I get myself home. Working a project of my own and it looks like you're doing pretty much everything I have to do as well.

          Cheers, canuk_guy

Thanks for the encouragement I've done a bit more this weekend, sandblasted and primed the brake calipers, put dome colour on a few other parts and washed the motor down ready for more paint to tidy it up. I'll post up some pics tomorrow.

            Thanks for reading, Engelskmannen.

And the headstock has gone back in with new bearings

              The rebuild has properly begun

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll post a lot more detailed pics of the rebuild than I did of the stripdown (didn't want to bore people too much). Can't wait to get her finished and for Spring to arrive - minus 8 deg C this morning...

It's bloody cold Bill but... the roads are clear, the sky is blue and the sun is shining so if my bike was finished then I would indeed ride it - hell yes !

                          not very far though

Just caught up with this thread. Damn, you take this stuff seriously. But from a (wannabe) mechanics point of view there is nothing more interesting than a rebuild thread like this.
                            Nice work.

Thanks for that I've only replaced the parts that were worn out or could be improved upon, the new, taller screen for example, other than that I've just prettied parts up to look like they are new again. I rebuilt the forks with new seals last night and hopefully the new valve adjusters I ordered will arrive today so's I can set the valve clearances and put the motor back into the frame. I'll put up some pics when they're installed.

                              Cheers, Engelskmannen.

Ok, so I've started the reassembly

The forks are back in place.

                                Handlebabars and front mudguard.

                                Centre stand.

                                Engine's back in its' cradle

Engine and frame reunited that's all for now folks, thanks for looking.
