  • Petcock on a 1990 KAT 1100

This may seem like an odd question... I have owned my 1990 1100 for about a month now and can not seem to find the petcock on it. I ride it everyday and have not worried about it, but would like to know where it is.

You can't find it because it does not exist. There is no petcock to switch to reserve, just what the gauge shows you.

There is a petcock but it doesn't have a reserve position, just prime and on. Look under the tank from the left side of the bike. You need a screwdriver to turn the valve.

I've not installed my gas tank yet. Still waiting on UPS truck.
My Petcock slot is up and down. I take it thats Prime ? Do I turn the screw clockwise or counter clockwise to turn it on ? I just don't want to strip the screw or anything.
        Thanks

I think that's ON and clockwise a quarter turn is PRIME. It should be marked.

My 88 says PRI at the very top.
The slot is currently pointed straight up and down.
Wild Bill, I'm about to post another thread in two minutes. Stay tuned please sir.

"PRI" would be Prime, of course. Mine's labeled, too so I've never memorized which position is which. A good light is your your friend here.
