I know that road and that hairpin, found an 18 wheeler stuck in there one day. Had to carry my hard bags around it and just squeek the bike through with a push from the truck driver. I suspect he was in the sh#t when he the law got there.

That hairpin you see just west of the pushpin is impassable by anything larger than a cube van. It's a fun little stretch but on the weekends it's pretty busy between the bikes and Porches, etc.

Sorry about your wife...that sucks. You don't even have to pay $180 a month. They HAVE to take WHATEVER you can give each month. As long as you're making payments (Even $5/month) shows that you're TRYING to pay them, so they can't say anything.

When I got in my motorcycle wreck, I owed the hospital $1400 and the ambulance company $1200. I sent $50/month to the hospital and $25/month to the ambulance company. I had only paid the ambulance about $400 and they just stopped sending me bills. The hospital made me pay it all, but it took me 2 years and 4 months to pay it!

Yeah, they'll send you letters saying that you are required to pay the remaining balance before such and such date, but they're just trying to scare you. They can't do anything to you as long as you're making some type of payment each month.

I've heard that when you go for loans, they don't even give much thought to any med bills when considering you for a loan. Any truth to that?

They are all day comfortable. $19.99 and offer better support and protection than sneakers. I agree with Tom that laces and chains don't mix, but neither do 500lb bikes and ankles.
Now Jeans are better then shorts to be sure. I usually asses what I wear based on miles + type of road X speed / time..
Anything more then 1 hour or speeds over 60 mph for more then 30 minutes = leathers

where can you find sweet boots like that for only 19.99? did you transpose a decimal?

The best I've found is 29.99 from an army surplus place. I have some that I inherited from a friend that had an extra pair. They are pretty warm and though they may not have the greatest padding they will protect very well in a slide.

I wear different gear according to the risk factor I plan to take while I ride.
No, you can't plan for every risk, but you can always decide not to risk.

Figured I'd add my input. Just went sliding down the road after a wreck. The only things that hurt are my right knee and right foot. Burned right through my jeans and destroyed my tennis shoe.
Definitely adding riding pants to my "to buy" list, as well as boots. Live and learn!

I personally always suit up from head to toe, leathers/textiles (summer/winter) helmet is compulsary here, gloves (summer or winter) and always bike boots. Have seen too many people over here on a hot sunny day riding in shorts/trainers and a t-shirt and acting like prats and wondering why they have come off and have serious road rash, and all to impress the ladies ( not that we have that many hot sunny days in the uk lol).

i would, and do to all the learners i come across ( and i see them on a daily basis, due to the bike school i work for) tell them to always wear the proper protection, i know there are kevlar lined jeans out there if you dont fancy wearing leather or textile. like others have said, you only have 1 life so why tempt fate and risk it.

P.s i bought my last pair of boots off ebay for 15.00 (secondhand of course, but they lasted me 2 yrs)
