  • Will a coil mod eventually kill my battery?

Just wanna know if the constant 12v latching of the relay will take it's toll on my battery, and if I should just pull the fuse for the time being? Is the voltage drain negligable or not at all? Thx

If it was done correctly, no.

Well, since the 12v goes directly to the battery, and the Gnd wire goes to the frame for ground, the coil is constantly engaged. Hopefully I interpreted the instructions right? lol

Um but the connection should only be active when the relay is in use.

With the bike off, as soon as I put the fuse in the holder, I hear the relay "click". Of course, this is because the coil is hooked up to 12v+ of the battery, and the other side is hooked up to ground, right?

You should be activating the relay with a source that's key only power

Gotcha. Where would I find that connection on the pre-kat? on the fusebox?

You find something that only has power with the key turned on, and use that to trigger the relay. You can use something like a T Tap.

Guess I missed that part of the tutorial. I read it over and over, and that was never mentioned

There are 2 circuits on the relay.

One to activate it. That should have a ground side, and the power that turns on when the key is on. I would suggest one of the orange coils wires for this.

The second circuit is the power supply for the coils, and will only complete when the other circuit is on. That would be directly from the battery to the coils.
