  • Question about mismatched 03 fairing/ 92 frame combo

I've read in this forum that fairings and frames can be mismatched (from different generations), but that this generally requires some modifications and welding.

I have access to a MIG welder, a plastic welder, and am pretty good with both. My question is, how difficult is it to modify the fairings from a 03 600 and/or frame of a 92 600 to fit properly? I can get a great deal on a fairing kit, but want to make sure I'm not getting in over my head.

Well, the frame is shorter to start with on the pre kats. that can be accounted for somewhat with the mod to make the new fairings work.

The simple process would be to get a post donor frame with the mounting points, and duplicate/swap them.

Only two people I know built custom plastics. Braada Jim and Waltari. Neither is around, and I can't find pictures of either of their bikes.

Those are the same two I came up with when I was trying to think if anyone had done it.

                Well...

Based on the info given, I think I'll just keep looking for a good set of pre fairings. Thanks for the info (and warnings). It looks like saving a few bucks isn't going to be worth the hassle.
