  • exhaust headder pipe diameter 95 kat 600

I replaced the header on my 95 Katana 600, with one off of a 2001 bandit 600. The diameter of the bandit pipes is smaller than the original ones. Is that going to affect the way the engine exasperates? The origional header and mid pipe are completely rusted. They don't have any holes or anything, but cosmeticly are unappealing. That's why I swapped them out.

How about the inner diameter comparison? That theonly one that really counts. I can't see it doing harm seeing as they are relatively the same engine.

Was the "original" a single exhaust can (4-1) setup.

OEM pre kats use a 4-2 system with a crossover pipe under the engine, only the cross over clamps together. The rest (each side covering 2 cyclinders) is a solid welded together piece.

If you replaced the 4-1 then it sounds like you just swapped out from an aftermarket exhaust back to an OEM exhaust from another 600... and that won't hurt anything.

Anytime you make adjustments to the ehxuast or intake side of the engine, you might have to make some minor adjustments at the carbs to correct the a/f mix.
