after the carb cleaning

I just cleaned my carbs ( its a 2006 gxs600f) and all but 1 of my a/f screws were turned all the way in carb #1 was 1 1/2 turns out. I am putting them together now, and read that they should b 2 1/2 turns out. Everything on the bike is stock no mods. So my ? Is should I put them back the way I found them or go with 2 1/2 turns out? The reason I pulled the carbs and cleaned them was I think it had an air leak so I figured might as well clean em while I had them out.
