oil leaking from the ignition cover hole?

i have a 91 katana 600 that im putting back together from a lay down. everything is going great, and it should be on the road once new rubber is put on. it starts and runs great, but i noticed oil spilling out from the ignition hole. found out the cover is shot, got a new one. but, is oil even supposed to be coming out of that hole? you can see oil pooled up farther down in the hole, but is that normal?

im a noob, i know. but its the hole on the side of the crank case, opposite the shifter and trans case. has the ignition rotor in it.

Oh ok, yes there is supposed to be oil in there. You got a replacement gasket as well Im assuming?

yep, new gasket came with the cover. thanks for the good news though! got a little worried i might have to rebuild or replace the engine.
