  • timing seems off..

So got my 94gsx600 fired up and running but the timing sounds off.. I still need to balance my carbs out but what else could I do in the mean time (waiting on a carbtune)? Also she seems to be running hot, could my oil cooler be faulty how would I go about finding that out?

    any input would be appreciated

Do you know how to check the timing? It's in the manual. Check the timing if you think it's off.

What observations are making you think the timing is off?

And is it running hot because it is sitting still? The oil cooler needs air passing through it to do its job.

If you didn't take it apart the timing should be correct. (unless someone else took it apart and put it together wrong before you).
            Must read for carb tuners......http://www.factorypro.com/tech/tech_...m_engines.html

Wouldn't surprise me, I got the bike and it was a mess

94's are supose to have center stands correct?

The katana timing is static. Once the cams are set it's not adjustable without changing the ignition advancer somehow.

Could be a bad CCT spring.

750's came standard with center stands, they were an option on 600's.

You can fit a fairing from a 88-97 600 or 89-97 750. The fronts were the same. (Don't have one to sell you, though.)
