I just put on a new chain and tightened it. The notches on the side are both even. The rear tire looks like it is very close to the swingarm though. Is this how it's supposed to be? Everything is even but I'm not sure if it's too close or not.

Stock rim with what size tire?...
tire looks a tad oversized to me, but... might just be the pics. If the axle is even distance from the pivot point on both sides, it should be straight. You cant' go by just the notches on the swingarm... they are not super accurate.

I personally recomend at least 1/2" clearance between tire and swingarm. Under 1/4" is just unsafe per most tire companies.

Thanks for all the help. I moved the tire. It's off by one notch of eachother on each side but like you said it doesn't matter. My bike was just out of commision for a month after the chain breaking and it messing up my clutch push rod and the seal the rod goes into. Finally about to take it for a ride. I'm gonna check and make sure the chain isn't scraping against anything since the notches aren't the same. Thank you again.

More important to align your chain to both the front and rear sprocket.Must read for carb tuners......http://www.factorypro.com/tech/tech_...m_engines.html

if that is a post rim (straight spoked) on your pre that would explain it. alot of ppl put 160s on their post rim on pre's because it is the largest size you can go without modifying the brake arm.1992- project katfighter
