I just bought an 88 katana 600 and am planning on changing the oil. I bought a fully synthetic 10w-40 to put in, but some people are telling me not to use fully synthetic. What should i do?

Synthetic is great. Did you get a synthetic motorcycle oil??? Which one?
I use Shell Rotella T synthetic, it is great stuff and cheaper than the other motorcycle synthetics

I recommend a strap wrench. I picked up mine at Pep Boys. It was not expensive at all. CHeck out this thread for more info: http://katriders.com/vb/showthread.php?t=52202

Is that MOTORCYCLE specific Castrol or Auto Synthetic oil?
You DO NOT want to use any automotive oil that has "energy conserving" on the label.
I highly recommend you do a search here for oil and use TheCyberPoet as the author.
