where does the dogbone go?

hello everyone,
i'm putting my bike back together after the paint job and I forgot where this dogbone looking part goes. it's somewhere on the front end. is it part of the brake. please help. thanks

it's a pre so I can't help you there but extra parts are common after rebuild.

However, "dogbones" go on the rear suspension link for the shock.

yeah, and that aint one of them No, extra parts are not common, **** that's laying around your garage that you THINK goes on the bike are.

That isn't a pre front end part I'm aware of..
If you have a UK bike I might think tax tag bracket..
Can you put a tape measure next to it? I have no idea if it is 6 inches or 0.6 inches long..

sorry couldn't find the tape measure. but, it's about 2 inches long and it is a US model bike. 1990 kat600

Its not a brake part !
it looks like a fixing bracket for plastics where they overlap. seen lots like it holding bellypans together where they join but dont remember seeing that exact shape on a pre

Pretty sure that is not a stock part off a pre Kat 600 or 750. I have never seen a part like that on either of mine, and I just tore down the 600 to the frame.

its where the mirror screws bolt on to

some bikes have the threads integrated into the headlight mount and some dont thats why there is that

On the Kat, the "birdcage" has nuts welded to the back of it.

Besides, it looks like the bolts are way bigger than mirror bolts which are like M6 I think.
