  • engine bogging out

I just changed the float on my carb that was leaking. Now the engine wants to bog out at about 7k rpm. Does anyone know what could be the problem. Thank you.

7k bogging is usually a failure of one or more slides (the ones that raise the needles) to raise up correctly, or a failure to deliver sufficient fuel for the consumption rate. Since fueling is dependent on a lot of things, that could be as simple as a kinked fuel line or as complicated as a poor choice in air filters.

Try this: remove the vacuum diaphragms (slides), wash with warm water & a small amount of dish detergent. Pat dry, allow to air dry an hour, then reinstall (optionally: spray lightly with a silicone lubricant just before reinstallation).

Also would add that if you had it apart before, make sure it's put together properly. There is a tab for the diaphragm to fit into the carb body and you have to have it "inflated" to seat correctly. I always suck on the top hole at the back of the barb to see if it raises and lowers as it should.

Ok so I got it running right. All I had to do was put the air box back on and it runs great now. Even feels like it has more power since I changed the plugs. On a different note.....Not leaking gas anymore. Thanks for all the advice.
