  • Chain Adjustment/Rear Wheel Alignment

I adjusted my chain for the first time today. I used a Motion Pro alignment tool to get the rear wheel straight. When I look at the chain and sprocket the chain is not centered on the sprocket. It's off to one side at the top, bottom, rear all equal amounts. I read that the Chain should be in the center of the sprocket but I don't see how it's going to be possible. Here's a pic (not my bike)with some cheesy graphics to show which side is closer.

    Any info would be great.

    Thanks
    Frank

Measure from the rear of the swingarm to the axle bolt -- if it's the same on both sides, don't sweat it. If it's off, adjust it.
The biggest problem with the axle & adjuster design on the Kat is that tightening the axle bolt/nut tends to make the adjustment shift a bit. Always measure the chain's alignment & clearance again after you tighten the axle down.
