  • Recommendations on Oil Brands?

Would anybody please be able to help me on the following:

1 What oil brands are recommended and where to buy?

2 Are oil filters only purchased through SUZUKI?

3 Where can I get the 'special tools' needed for doing an OIL CHANGE.

    Thanks so much
    2001 GSXF 600

Mobil 1 MX4T and Castrol GPS are highly beloved around here. Others swear by Amsoil, Motul, Motorex, etc. General rules:

There are both aftermarket filters that will fit them, and people like myself who sell the OEM filters cheaply compared to most dealers. I get $8.- for the OEM Suzuki oil filter, PM me for details or see this thread for my offerings:

I sell the oil filter wrench that matches the OEM filter, for $4.50.
The torque wrench you need can be obtained from most tool sellers, including Sears, HarborFreight, etc., as well as many auto parts stores. Make sure it can do 7 lb-ft accurately, as that is the lowest value that you're likely to encounter on the bike (the oil drain bolt is 16.5 lb-ft torque).
Alternatively, you can get a fumoto drain valve and never have to mess with the hassle of removing/reinstalling the drain bolt again (and eliminating the potential for stripping it). F111 valve available from www.fumotovalve.com is the appropriate valve unless your oil pan was retapped at some time in the past. Search here on KR for what the install requires for your particular year.
