  • Tire size

Ok, I apologize in advance for this queston, because I know it's probably been asked before, but I didn't find the thread on it. Here it goes... I have a 96 750 Kat and was wondering what is the widest tire size you can run on the back wheel without mods to the rear swing arm and other components. If anyone knows, let me know and I appreciate the assistance.

Answer is in a sticky in the top of the Rolling Stock section.

    General answer:
The largest "Safe to Mount" tire size in general for a pre-98 Kat is a 120/70ZR17 front and 150/70ZR17 rear. There are some manufacturers who make wider rear tires that can be mounted in, but in all cases, make sure the manufacturer specifically says the wider tire is built to fit on a 3.5" rear rim (I think Avon is the only firm doing so).
