I'm of the opinion that it's all in how you ride.
Typical street rider doing primarily commuting, touring, and inner-city riding, stick to stock.
Performance oriented? Go for the Barnetts -- just be warned if you go for their stiffer springs, it'll take quite a bit more effort to pull in the clutch (a big deal if you live in a place where you are constantly going light to light for miles on end).
