What should my first five upgrades be?

Tell us more of what your gonna be using the bike for, then we can go from there.

railing and canyon carving? Commuting? posing ?

off hand for a 98, how old are your brake lines and tires ?

Start with what you need and can afford and go from there.

        Better helmet

        Better jacket

        Better pants

        Better gloves

        Better boots

        Upgrade yourself first. Then......

        Better Tires

Stainless brake lines & HH pads

        Fork Springs and emulators

        Better rear shock

        Saddle time

Improve the handling and learn to handle it. Then.....

        Dremmel header inlets

        Slip on

        Ign Advancer

        jet kit

        K&N

To find the hidden extra power. Then....

Do cosmetic improvements to suit your particular style and vision. Only you know what your minds eye sees your bike being. Ideas on what can be done are all over this site

I think this is about the best order of upgrades...although I'd do it without all the spacing in between.

Assuming you've got good gear for yourself, like Jim said, then my list would be...

            1. Get rid of the Crapadams if you've still got them.
            2. Fork and shock springs.
            3. RaceTech cartridge emulators.
            4. Steel braided brake lines and HH pads.
            5. Heated grips.

steve - i wouldn't think heated grips belong in a list like this. If you ride in the winter or cooler temps in general you'll be amazed at how distracting cold hands are. ( general attitude, poor shifting & braking etc. )

but.... once you put heated grips on i think it'll be the first upgrade on every bike after that !

after that i'd suggest upgrading the fork springs & good tires.

Would these also apply to a Katana 750?
