I recently took my front tire off to have a new one put on and I guess my son had squezzed the brake hand le and compressed the pistons. I was wondering how do I go about releasing the presure to reinstall my calipers. This is my first bike and I don't know much about them but I have always worked on cars and wasn't sure if I could do them the same way. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Buddy

Use anything to wedge in between the pads. You can even use a flat head screwdriver and gently pry them open. If you want to be really safe, release the brake fluid and do it that way, then remember to bleed them when you add fluid.
-If your not repairing your bike, your not riding it right.

I use a C clamp to compress mine.

I use a C clamp and a piece of wood across the face of the pistons.
Removing the pads before you compress will give you more space to work with; opening the bleeder valve will make the whole thing require less force, but you'll have to bleed the brakes thoroughly afterwards.

As long as the pistons are fully extended, take a toothbrush and some brake cleaner to them
