Could just cut off the stock muffler and weld on a glasspack...wonder what that would sound like...sorry just thought it was funny to cut off the muffler. I can already hear the sirens now due to the police chase...

Looks like a good way to tank an engine, but I'm no expert. If it were me, I'd seriously consider how much back pressure you really need before keeping that thing on for too long.

i think they both sound good...did you notice a hp differance and did you need to rejet????
yea definate hp increase. i would guestimate 8-10 easy....

as far as the valves go, thats why i purposely used a smaller collector and turndown to ensure some back pressure.... but yea ill prolly add more for insurance. As far as ground clearance, I can angle the turndown any way I want so ground clearance is no issure whatsoever.

I stayed with stock heads so rejetting wouldnt be an issue, although im sure it would make even more of a difference.

Im planning on fabricating a few more here soon, just to play with the sound length look and soforth. Ill keep you guys posted.....

The real risk of dropping the back pressure (aside from the attention of the police & going deaf in the process) is running the mixture lean; as long as the mix is richened up to compensate, everything should be OK. If the mixture isn't richened up, the temp at the exhaust valves can easily go too hot and burn valves. A minute or two on an exhaust gas analysis machine (even one at an automotive garage) should be able to tell you the status on the mixture.

                  Cheers,

i noticed a big difference in power, as one normally would once they trade out the stock muffler/silencer. im sure a rejet would make a dramatic difference but im trying to stay away from that for now.

oh and thanks for the advice cyber, im going to look into that....

Those are for Yammies, but same idea.

Thats where I got the idea, but mine was cheaper (less than $20) and still works great. Being a poor college student has its drawbacks, but sometimes it works out

i bet that MCM would bolt right onto a kat, all you need is an adaptor that would run bout 3 bucks at and auto parts place... its not like it needs much room or a bracket to line up with... but yea its pretty much the same thing i did, only chromed and with a baffle
