He's looking at tire sizes for the WIDER RIM.

Sorry, Hawaiian, I don't have any good advice for you as to what spacers you'll need, etc. I had a pre bike and was pretty happy with the 150 tire. My experiences with wheel swapping on my 1100 won't help you at all. I do remember reading that pre and post rotors are interchangeable but the post rotors look better. Not sure if that's true but it's what I remember. Bet Kreylin can say for sure. I just wanted to point out that you already understand just fine that you're going to need a wider rim to fit a wider tire and plan to do that. The original questions were:

    1. When fitting a post rear wheel in a pre swingarm, what parts are needed for the swap?
    2. What size tire is recommended for a post rear wheel?

    Right?
Pre and post 98-02 front rotors are swappable back and forth.

Post rear rotors are 5 bolt patterns, pre are 4 bolts. The 03+ front rotors are flat instead of dished, and are not swappable to the prior years.

I suggest using the post wheel and carrier combo together with the post rotor. Everything else can be used from the pre (axle, spacers, caliper components, etc...)

Thanks for the help. I am trying to run a 160/60 but not if it's going to throw off my speedo.
Not so great info ... forget the speedo-tyre relationship - but it is about 8% out.

A 160/60 is the general consensus if wanting to go to a wider tyre - but with the necessary mods. Or, the simplest best tyre is probably the original spec on the original rim.

OMG finally someone understands me!! Thank you for breaking it down in a way, so people would understand and give me a clear cut answer, instead of turning into another one of "those" threads that are 4 pages long of pure flameage and no definitive answer. I thought I was talking in a different language...

Krey thanks for the answer/clarification. I can start shopping. I AM getting a new wheel 4.5in...

Infact I intended on getting the wheel this entire time. After all the posts I have read 150 is the largest for stock pre wheel.. But Krey just cleared up the other gray area.. thanks guys

So far I want/need a yahmaha r6 shock and the spacer from t mod. New front tire then everything mentioned here to go post wheel.

There is nothing wrong with 150/70. But I prefer the feel of the 160/60 over it by far.
Now my SA swap and 190 tire will be more for looks, however with the 55 ratio I'm still expecting good handling.

When I ranked how hard those where, I based that on this forum as a whole. In which case, it should actually be ***.

i had many 150 and 160 on my post kat.my best handling was the mez4.the one for bmw specs.they had two 150 listed back then.IME you can have a 160/60 or 150/70 look the same on a rim.the way it mushrooms over the rim.all depends on maker.

Yea but my post was referring to the feel of a 150 on a pre rim vs 160 on a post rim.
